Frequently Asked Questions

The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you (and for you to get to know me!), understand how some of your challenges might be impacting you and create a plan together. You might feel a bit nervous and that is normal!

You do not need a referral to arrange an appointment. However, you may be eligible for a rebate if you are a Medicare card holder. Please discuss with your GP directly. 

Medicare rebates can be processed on the day for your convenience. In order to claim a Medicare rebate for part of your session fee, The Worth Within will require your referral and eligible care plan from your GP (Mental Health Care Plan or Eating Disorder Plan). Please arrange for this to be emailed or faxed to our practice prior to your initial session. 

You will be provided with the receipt required to make your claim. Please note that according to private health rules, you cannot claim from both Medicare and your private health insurance for the same session.

Bulk-billing is not offered and an out-of-pocket fee will apply. 

Families can play an important role in supporting a young person’s recovery as they have valuable knowledge and resources that will assist in the treatment of the young person. Where appropriate, families will be involved in the process. 

Initially, sessions may include both the parents/carers and young person to gather background information and clarify goals for therapy. As therapy progresses, it's often beneficial for the young person to have space to speak privately as this allows them to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential environment. Ongoing parental involvement can be discussed and agreed upon based on the young persons consent, needs, comfort level, and the therapeutic goals.

Open communication is encouraged and collaboratively, I will work with families to find the right balance of support and independence for each young person.
